Carshalton Ponds

We are acutely aware of the ongoing issues with Carshalton Ponds, and in particular the dreadful effect they are having on the wild life.

Sutton Council have, this evening, issued the following statement:

​There is a leak in the upper pond with water escaping through a section of the pond edge, where the railings are regularly damaged on the High Street side. In order to restore the water levels in the upper pond, repair works to the pond edges are needed.
 
The water has been drained from the upper pond to enable access for the contractor and start the repair work next week (Monday 13 July 2026).  As soon as these repairs are completed, SES Water will fill the pond again. The work will be carried out as quickly as possible, so that water levels can be restored. 
 
We know these inconsistent levels of water are making it difficult for our local wildlife, and we are working hard to complete these repairs swiftly to get things back to normal for everyone and, most importantly, the wildlife.
