Excavation at Honeywood

Day 10 - Saturday 25th July 2010 |
|
We
resumed work on the excavation of trench B today. Work has
been quite slow as the various deposits have been thin so
there have been several stops for recording. We have
uncovered an east west aligned cut which may be the lower
part of an old plant bedding trench. The finds in it seem –
on a first look – to be somewhat older than the layers above
– possibly late 17th century rather than first
half of the 18th.
We have
done more detailed recoding of the rectangular pond.
We are planning to finish
the excavation next weekend so there will be more news then.
