Local History

On Saturday 1st December 2012 The Friends of Honeywood Museum teamed up with Ecolocal to stage the inaugural Carshalton Frost Fair.

What a hugely successful occasion it was! The residents of Carshalton and surrounds, along with their families and friends turned out for what will surely go down in Carshalton's history as the first of many Frost Fairs, and become an annual event that takes a significant place in the future life of the village.

Honeywood Walk and the Memorial Gardens were crammed with stalls, and the people crammed the remaining space around them! It was a most fantastic family afternoon out. Honeywood Museum was packed with visitors and families, Father Christmas had more happy young visitors than was ever anticipated, the Punch & Judy went down a treat, The Play of Light Theatre held everyone enthralled and the craft activities probably used more coloured paper, glitter and glue than has ever been used before at a single event!!

The Ecology Centre attracted a huge through-put of people, and The Friends of The Ecology Centre did a roaring trade at their Christmas Fair.

Were you there? Stall-holder or visitor? How was it for you? What did you enjoy most? Did the children enjoy it? If it's repeated what would you do to it to make it even better? Do click HERE and drop us a line of appreciation or with your thoughts and observations. We're keen to receive feedback to ensure that next year's Carshalton Frost Fair is even better (if that is at all possible!).

Further pictures will be added to the gallery below over coming days - please do look back again.

A very special 'Thank You' to those who have permitted our pictures to be put up for others to enjoy on this page, and to those who have offered pictures as a record of the occasion.
