Art on Screen

Art on Screen is a digital project funded by Arts Network Sutton and Heritage Lottery Fund to enable the London Borough of Sutton Art Collection to be made available to wider audiences.

The collection consists of 1200 oil paintings, watercolours, prints and drawings, which due to lack of display space are mostly held in storage. The collection is rich in works that reflect the local area and how it has developed from the 18th Century up to today. The collection includes work by artists of local, regional and national significance.

Art on Screen provides large scale digital displays from the collection in libraries and museums throughout the borough including:

Sutton Central Library
The Library at the Westcroft Centre Carshalton
Honeywood Museum Carshalton
Worcester Park Library
Wallington Library
Cheam Library
Sutton Life Centre

The collection has been photographed by a team of local volunteers with support from the Public Catalogue Foundation. Many hours of work have been generously given by dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers whom without this project would not have been possible.

The oil paintings from the collection are currently available online as part of the BBC and Public Catalogue Foundations Your Paintings project.
